Kathleen is extremely talented at helping me understand myself better. Rather than provide strong opinions on the specific challenges I’m facing, she helps identify ways in which I may be getting in my own way, or where I may be acting inconsistently with my own values and beliefs. Every time I talk with Kathleen, I feel better prepared to be maximally effective at my job.

Kathleen is an invaluable thought partner as I process how my values relate to my professional life. She asks questions that make me think deeply about my place in the world, what I care about most, and how I can contribute to things that matter. In addition, she provides concrete ideas on how to get closer to my goals and is always incredibly empathetic, reminding me to give myself grace in a world where we often push ourselves too hard. I have immensely enjoyed working with Kathleen and would recommend to anyone in any stage of career -- just jumping into career discernment processes, considering a transition, or looking for new ways to contribute in a job or career path they already love.

Kathleen made my dream of founding a nonprofit into a reality!

I’ve always been motivated to use my own career for good. As a college student I learned about Effective Altruism, a movement that has influenced me deeply. I pursued graduate studies in math, aiming for a career in AI Safety Research. Then I worked at Open Philanthropy, as an AI forecasting researcher. I’ve also worked in data science and applied math research at a wide variety of organizations.

But even at mission-driven organizations, I watched myself and colleagues suffer from burnout and stress. I came to believe that if we want to do good in the world, we have to start from our own well-being. After spending years learning how to do this for myself, I’ve started helping others on the same journey.

My approach is very influenced by meditation practice, as well as Internal Family Systems work, non-violent communication, authentic relating practices, and Gendlin’s Focusing practice.
